Dariusz Przybylski, organist and composer, b. 28th July 1984 in Konin. In 2003 he graduated from the State Secondary School of Music in Konin, where he studied organ with Hanna Buczkowska. He graduated with honors Magna cum Laude from F. Chopin Music Academy (now the Music University) in Warsaw where he studied composition with Marcin Błażewicz and organ with Andrzej Chorosiński.

 

In the academic year 2006-07 he was granted a Socrates/Erasmus scholarship to study in the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne  composition with York Höller, electronic composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert, instrumentation with Krzysztof Meyer and organ with Johannes Geffert. In 2010, he received a doctorate in musical arts in the F. Chopin University of Music and earned the highest degree in composition Konzertexamen from the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe where he studied with Wolfgang Rihm. 2012/13 "contemporary music" studies in Hochschule für Musik und Darstellend Kunst Frankfurt am Main as a member of the Internationale Ensemble Modern Academy. Scholarships among others by DAAD, Kunststiftung NRW, Internationale Ensemble Modern Academy, Deutsche Bank Stiftung Academy Opera Today. He has been selected to take part in the Programme for the Promotion of 13 Composers (2007-2010), organized by the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre. 2012 composers courses matrix12 by Experimentalstudio Freiburg, where teachers were Mark Andre, Chaya Czernowin and Uros Rojko. In 2013 Stockhausen-Kurse in Kuerten. He has participated in master classes of composition (taught by Olga Neuwirth, Paul Edlin, Dominic Muldowney, Roderick Watkins, Philip Wilby), organ music interpretation (by Karol Gołębiowski, Edgar Krapp, Gerhard Weinberger, Gary Verkade, Wolfgang Zerer), and organ improvisation (by Tomasz Adam Nowak, Daniel Roth).

 

As an organist, Dariusz Przybylski has given concerts in many Polish cities as well as abroad. New music has pride of place in his repertoire, and he has given numerous first performances of new works. He also performs as an improviser. Przybylski's music can be found on compact discs (released by DUX, Sarton, Requiem Records). Two of them are monographic albums: Work for Orchestra and Passio for 12 voices (DUX). The CD with his Bogurodzica (Mother of God, 2003) for solo organ performed by Andrzej Chorosiński on the organ of the Basilica in Licheń became a Double Platinum Disc, whereas his CDS “20 Years of the Organ Conversatorium in Legnica” (DUX) and Young Composers in Tribute to F. Chopin (DUX) were nominated for the Fryderyk Award of the Polish music industry. The CD album Saxophone Variee recorded by Paweł Gusnar received Fryderyk Award 2013. Guest lectures in New York City, Hamburg, Rome, Istanbul and Moscow. 2010/11 Visiting Professor of composition at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. Composer in residence at the kofomi Composers’ Forum in Mittersill 2009 (Austria), International Composers’ Academy Bad Ischl 2010 (Austria), Scratch Cantatas Festival in 2012 Niznhyi Novgorod (Russia), 2012/13 at the Vocalensemble Phoenix16 - Berlin. 2008-2012 chairman of the Youth Circle of the Polish Composers' Union. Member of the Polish Composers' Union, ZAiKS Society of Authors and ISCM Polish Section. His scores have been published by Verlag Neue Musik in Berlin. www.verlag-neue-musik.de
