My music is often described as linking tradition with modernity – and I agree with this perception completely. I create music the way I want to hear it, always trying to work at the highest artistic level. My artistic stance, in which I endeavor to present matters both serious and important, is directly rooted in musical tradition which I rework using my compositional technique in such a way as to develop a non-anachronistic musical language designed to enrich the sound palette, to construct original, formal arrangements, and to introduce textural and instrumental solutions.
On 30 September 2010 I received my doctorate in music from the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. The title of my dissertation: Analiza formalna i estetyczna utworu Orchesterstueck Nr 2 na orkiestrę symfoniczną. The promoter was Professor Marcin Błażewicz. A composer’s artistic activity is closely associated with taking care of one’s output, with organizing time for work and performance of one’s music.
Since 2008 I have been teaching classes at the Department of Composition, Conducting, and Music Theory of the Frederic Chopin Music University. For the first two years I assisted Professor Marcin Błażewicz by holding seminars for composers, teaching score-reading and instrumentation courses. Since 2010 I have been hired as an associate professor and offer courses in composition (together with Professor Marcin Błażewicz), instrumentation, contemporary compositional techniques, and have taught counterpoint with fugue (until 2013) at the Department of Piano, Harpsichord, and Organ for students of harpsichord and organ.
My artistic activity consists of composing and performing organ music. Currently work as composer predominates; for the last couple of years I have been receiving commissions from particular institutions and performers to write specific works of music, which also involves observing deadlines in returning materials, along with discipline and planning my work sometimes even a few years ahead of time.
I can assert with all due certainty that work in my chosen field of art – music – is my passion, and my primary goal as an artist is showing the observer or listener a different perspective of looking at their world, awakening in them a feeling for beauty, and encouraging them to become aware of emotions inspired by art.
